Full office description
- Fort Valley receives its electricity, natural gas, water, wastewater treatment, fiber optic, and wireless telecommunications from the Fort Valley Utility Commission rather than statewide utility companies. The Fort Valley Utility Commission is run by an 8-member board of Utilities Commissioners.
- The utility commission has full control over the construction and management of all public utilities provided by the city and decides the rates charged for utilities.
- Four commissioners are elected to four-year, staggered terms. Two are elected at large and two are elected to represent specific districts. The mayor is also a member of the commission, with the same powers as an elected member.
