Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown sworn in as president of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association

Ezell Brown began his law enforcement career in 1973 as a patrolman with the Covington Police Department. In 1977, he joined the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, where he has served in various capacities and demonstrated progressive supervisory experience. He was elected as the first African American Sheriff of Newton County, Georgia, on November 4, 2008, and has since overseen a department with approximately 315 employees and more than 500 inmates. Additionally, Sheriff Brown has held the position of President of the Georgia Sheriffs' Association.
