- As part of the statewide committee, this member helps manage how a political party runs, coordinates activities, and sets party policy. 
- They may also identify candidates to run for office, coordinate campaigns, and raise money.
- Major parties (Republicans and Democrats) elect their county central committee members as one person from each election precinct or from each city ward and each township. The party chooses which option to use, and whether members will serve 2-year or 4-year terms. 
- Minor parties may do the same or set up their own rules about which offices are elected and how candidates qualify.
