Clay Barnett earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. He lives with his wife, Laura, and their two sons in Sherman, Texas. He is a member of First Baptist Church Sherman, where he serves as a deacon.

Sandra Melton has lived in Sherman for nearly 40 years. She and her husband, Danny, have five children and nine grandchildren.

Sandra is a retired city employee. She worked for the City of Sherman for nearly 22 years, spending the first five years in the water office and the remainder as a certified city clerk. After retiring, she spent six years as a library associate at Neblett Elementary School.

Sandra is a former Sherman city councilmember. She served on the council for three years and ran for mayor in 2021, but did not win.

As a council member, helped lower trash rates for residents 65 and older, saved the bulk trash program, got a new trailer for the city’s animal shelter, and implemented Developer Impact Fees.
