Roderick Virgil

Roderick Virgil is from Hoke County, North Carolina. He studied emergency medical technology in 1999 and emergency medical science (paramedic) in 2003 at Robeson Community College. He also has a critical care paramedic endorsement from 2006 and a tactical paramedic endorsement. He completed his basic law enforcement training at Sandhills Community College in 2010. He has also studied critical care medicine at the University of North Carolina. Roderick is a pianist at St. James Church and an accomplished playwright.

Roderick is the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Quality Lawn Care, a business he started in Raeford in 2018. He previously worked as a paramedic and critical care paramedic. He also served as the EMS director and systems administrator for Hoke County from 2009 to 2011. Roderick has also worked as a flight paramedic, a tactical medic, and a firefighter. He also previously helped out at his family's restaurant, Virgil's Drive-In. 

Roderick is currently the Hoke County Sheriff. He was appointed in 2021 and then elected in 2022. He is currently serving his first term.
