- State Senators are involved in approving appointments by the Governor to the state cabinet, commissions, and boards. 
- The State Senate, along with the State House of Representatives, makes up our state lawmaking body: the Mississippi Legislature. 
- There are 52 Mississippi senators, each representing a single district.
- State Senators are elected to four year terms. Elections take place in odd-numbered years before presidential elections (2023, 2027, 2031). They are paid a yearly salary of $10,000 for this part time role.
