Stacey was born in Athens, Greece, to a U.S. military father and a Greek mother. She earned a bachelor's degree in Geosciences from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Stacey furthered her education with postgraduate study at Oxford University in England. She is married to John, a small business owner, and together they have a family.

Most recently, Stacey worked for the Pacific Branch of the National Home for Disabled Veteran Soldiers. She previously worked as a radio producer for the BBC. She is a United States Army veteran who served as a Russian Intelligence Interceptor.
