Billy Hancock is the sheriff in Crisp County. He was elected in 2012, and is serving his third term.

Billy has been working in public safety since 1976 in various roles, such as chief deputy and for the Georgia State Patrol. He has also been the emergency management director of Crisp County since 2014. He lectures on various law enforcement topics at places like the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the St. Petersburg Junior College.

Billy graduated from the Moultrie Technical College EMS Program, and the Georgia State Patrol Academy. He earned an associate's degree in criminal justice, a bachelor's degree in homeland security, and a master's certificate in emergency management from Columbia Southern University. He has been the president of the Cordele Lions Club, and attends the Cordele Church of Christ.
