Shaw has a degree in management information systems from the University of Georgia. He resides in Warner Robins with his wife and their three sons. They are members of Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins. He was raised in Houston County and graduated from Warner Robins High School. 

Shaw began his career working in sales for National Bank Products, a family business founded by his family. He later became President and CEO. 

Shaw Blackmon was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2015, representing District 146. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee. Shaw is also a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and the Special Committee on Election Integrity.
