This bill includes a  standardized definition of “severe mental illness,” requested a study to see how many mental health beds are available and needed in Georgia, requested a study examining licensing requirements for behavioral health professionals as opposed to surrounding states, and expanded student loan cancelation program for mental health professionals.

Supports the Veterans Mental Health Services Program, a competitive grant program to improve access to mental health services for service members, veterans and their family members. These grants would be eligible to nonprofit community behavioral health programs that provide service to veterans and their families.
