Matt Hatchett was elected as a Dublin city councilman from 1999 to 2009. Since 2010, he has represented District 143 and District 150 in the Georgia House of Representatives. Currently, he holds the position of Majority Caucus Chairman.

Matt has had multiple different career paths. He has owned franchises like Bruster’s Real Ice Cream and Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs. Additionally, he founded Hangers Cleaners, Inc. and has held significant roles in academia, including positions at Mercer University School of Medicine.

Matt grew up in Dublin. He graduated from Dublin High School and got his bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from Presbyterian College. He is married, and has two children. Matt and his family are members of First United Methodist Church. They currently reside in Dublin.
