Jason is from Clifty, Kentucky, and graduated from Todd County Central High School. He earned a master's degree in humanities from Western Kentucky.  Jason is married to his wife Denise, and they have 3 children. The family attends Dripping Spring Baptist Church.

Jason is a lawyer with his own general private practice in Elkton.  He previously worked part-time with the Commonwealth Attorney for Logan and Todd counties as a victim advocate and as an assistant Commonwealth Attorney.

Jason Petrie is a state representative for District 16. He was elected in 2016 and is serving his fourth term.
