Lisa graduated from Jefferson High School. She then earned her bachelor's degree from Yale University, and both her master's and doctorate degrees from the California School of Professional Psychology.

Lisa was the previous executive director of the Kentucky Psychology Association and taught in the psychology department at Bellarmine University.
