Terry attended Northern Kentucky University. He and his family reside in Bellevue, Kentucky. Terry volunteers with the Bellevue Veterans Club, Cincy Smiles and Cincinnati Health Networking, the YMCA Community Service Branch, and other organizations. 

Terry owns and operates VSP Management Company. Previously, he served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant/E-5.
