Craig is originally from Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science and government from the University of Kentucky and his law degree from the University of Memphis. He lives in Hopkinsville with his wife, Katie, and their daughter. He has been involved in church leadership and served a two-year church mission to Brazil.

Craig currently practices law at the firm Richardson and Craig, focusing on estate planning and real estate transactions. He previously operated his own legal practice.
