Marita is a Louisville native and a 40-year resident of Jeffersontown. She earned an associate's degree in business administration from Spencerian Business College and attended the University of Louisville. She has been married for 48 years and has 2 children. Marita and her family attend Bates Memorial Church. 

Marita is the president of community engagement with Community Ventures. Prior to that, she served as the president of eHome America, philanthropy officer at the American Red Cross, and CEO of Hope Collaborative. She began her career as a teller for the Bank of Louisville and rose to become vice president of Community Development at PNC Bank.

Stuart is a retired teacher of the machine tool technology program at Jeffersontown & Southern High School. He previously worked at GE and Ford Motor Truck Plant and was a small business owner.
