James graduated from Neshaminy Jr. High School. He then went on to earn his bachelor's degree in education and music composition from the University of Cincinnati, as well as both his master's degree in music education and his doctorate in educational leadership from Temple University. He also attended the University of Nevada, Reno's doctoral program for educational leadership. 

James owns WayWordBound, a print and publishing company for educational documents and musical compositions. He was also the K-12 principal for Lund Schools, and an organist for the Central United Methodist Church.

James Rickley was previously the superintendent for the Poplar School District and the assistant superintendent for the Lander County School District.

Steve owns a wild land fire contracting business. He previously worked as a first responder, in emergency rooms as a Paramedic, and then as a Registered Nurse.

- Your State Representative participates in the legislative process at the state level. They are one of 100 members of the Montana House of Representatives. The Montana House of Representatives is the lower house of the Montana State Legislature (the state's lawmaking body).
