Sherry is a Billings native and graduated from Billings West High School and Rocky Mountain College. She volunteers with South Park Senior Center, Big Sky Senior Services, the Girl Scouts Treasure Trails Council, and more. She is married with children and grandchildren.

Sherry has worked in banks, insurance agencies, and credit unions. She was the  CEO of a Credit Union Services Organization, the Montana Health Federal Credit Union, and Executive Director of the Healthcare Credit Union Association.
