 Prior to a career in politics, Dan worked as an attorney at Erwin, Bishop, Capitano, & Moss for 23 years. He also worked at Robinson Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A. as an associate for five years.

Dan Bishop is the US Representative for North Carolina’s 8th Congressional District. He was first elected in a special election in 2019 and has served two complete terms and one partial term. He served as a State Senator from 2016 to 2019, as a State Representative from 2015 to 2017, and as a Mecklenburg County Commissioner from 2005 to 2008.

Jeff has a law degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He is married to Marisa and they have three children: Haden, Owen, and Avery. Jeff is a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church.

Jeff is a Congressman and has also served as a State Senator. Previously, he worked as an assistant district attorney in Gaston County. Jeff also enlisted in the Army Reserve after September 11th, 2001, and continues to serve as a Major in the Army National Guard.

- The Attorney General is Head of Department of Justice. They represent North Carolina’s government departments, agencies, and commissions in court. They usually do not prosecute specific crimes – that usually falls to the local District Attorneys.
- In addition to representing state agencies, the Attorney General can initiate court proceedings on behalf of North Carolina's public interest. For example, the Attorney General may sue corporations whose actions have harmed the public, such as when pharmaceutical companies were sued in response to the opioid crisis.
