Mark is married and was raised in Conover. Mark earned a degree in business administration from Mitchell College and a degree in funeral services education and grief counseling from Fayetteville Community College. 

Mark owns and works at D & P DECON. Previously, he worked in funeral services and as a first responder. 

Mark Pennell currently serves as a member of the Conover Board of Education. He was elected in 2012 and is currently serving his third term.
