Gina grew up in Hendersonville, where she still lives. She completed her GED and pursued early childhood education at Blue Ridge Community College, later obtaining a bachelor's degree in human development and family studies from UNC Greensboro in. Gina is married, and lives with her husband.

Gina is currently a coordinator of a program serving teenage parents at the Children & Family Resource Center. She has previously worked in early education, teaching preschool after earning early education credentials.
