Jane holds a master's degree in agricultural, environmental, and developmental economics from Ohio State University and a doctor of natural resource management degree from Oregon State University. 

Jane currently works as a coastal economics specialist for the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and as a faculty member of the College of Natural Resources and in the Agricultural and Resource Economics Department at North Carolina State University. She previously worked as an environmental social scientist at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. 

Jane Harrison currently serves as a member of the Raleigh City Council in District D. She was first elected in 2022 and is serving her 1st term.
