Greg lives in Black Mountain with his wife, Katie. He volunteers with the Fairview Dads Club, where he is also the president. 

Greg currently works with the Asheville Fire Department. Previously, Greg worked as an elementary school teacher at Fairview Elementary and served as chairperson of the school improvement committee. He was awarded Teacher of the Year 3 times.
