Lori is a native of New Bern, and has lived in the Forest Hills neighborhood for the past 15 years. Lori furthered her education at East Carolina University, where she earned a master's degree in business administration, and at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

- The Board of Education member hires a superintendent and can remove them when necessary. The superintendent assists the Board of Education in implementing the board’s policies.
