Lynn was born and raised in Durham. Lynn is married to her husband, with whom she has 2 children.

Lynn works as the outreach director at Public Schools First NC. She is an at-large member of the Wake County Library Commission. She is also a former president and committee chair of several parent-teacher association organizations.

Lynn Edmonds currently serves as a member of the Wake County Board of Education in District 5. She was elected to this position in 2022 and is serving her 1st term.
