Pat is a Brunswick County native who resides in Southport and is an alumna of Southport High School. She and her husband Clarence have 1 son and 1 grandson.

Pat is retired. She has 32 years of experience in various federal government agencies, including five years in management at the Internal Revenue Service and assignments at the United States Attorney’s Office and Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point. She has also worked in local government in Brunswick County and the Town of Long Beach (Oak Island). Additionally, she has been a business owner, having operated Sykes RV and Boat Storage and Sykes Portable Welding & Repair for over 25 years.

Pat Sykes is currently a member of the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners. He was elected in 2012, and is serving her third term. She held the position of vice chair of the board in 2015.
