Rhonda was born and raised in Fair Bluff, NC, and later moved to Raleigh where she lives with her family. She earned her bachelor's degree in political science from the University of North Carolina, Pembroke, a master's degree in information science from North Carolina Central University, and her law degree from the North Carolina Central University School of Law.

Prior to her election, Rhonda was an attorney at Young Law Offices, PLLC. She was also a partner at Fitts & Young, LLP, and the owner of Young Law Offices.

Rhonda Graham Young

- District Court judges hear civil, criminal, and juvenile cases. Civil cases dealing with divorce, child custody, and child support are heard in District Court. 
- Under the District Court, the magistrate can try small claims cases ($10,000 or less), landlord eviction cases, and suits for recovery of personal property. A magistrate is an independent judicial officer, recognized by the North Carolina Constitution as an officer of the district court.
