Trellis Law, Mark L. Stevens

Mark was born and raised in Raleigh. He graduated from Wake County Public Schools, earned his bachelor's degree in English from Denison University, and his law degree from the North Carolina Central School of Law. He lives in East Raleigh with his family. The family attends Christ Church Episcopal Church.

Mark has worked as an assistant district attorney for Wake County since 2008. He was also the district court supervisor from 2015 to 2017, supervising, training, and hiring prosecutors. Mark worked as a prosecutor in the drug unit of the District Attorney's Office as well.

Mark L. Stevens is currently a district court judge in District 10. He was appointed in 2022 and is serving his first term while running for official election.

- District Court judges hear civil, criminal, and juvenile cases. Civil cases dealing with divorce, child custody, and child support are heard in District Court. 
- Under the District Court, the magistrate can try small claims cases ($10,000 or less), landlord eviction cases, and suits for recovery of personal property. A magistrate is an independent judicial officer, recognized by the North Carolina Constitution as an officer of the district court. 
- District Court Judges are elected for a four-year term. Elections are partisan.
