Trellis, Judge Julie L. Bell: Profesional Background and Legal Experience

Julie holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. 

Julie previously worked as a partner at Garylord Rodgers, PLLC, and Patterson Dithley, LLP. She also worked as an associate at Wood and Francis and an assistant district attorney at the Wake County District Attorney's Office. 

Julie Bell currently serves as a district court judge in Judicial District 10. She was elected to this position in 2021 and is serving her first term. 

As a partner at Garylord Rodgers, PLLC, and Patterson Dithley, LLP., Bell managed key client relationships, pursued new clients, mentors junior lawyers, oversaw certain areas of legal practice, and provided legal counsel on behalf of clients.

- District Court judges hear civil, criminal, and juvenile cases. Civil cases dealing with divorce, child custody, and child support are heard in District Court. 
- Under the District Court, the magistrate can try small claims cases ($10,000 or less), landlord eviction cases, and suits for recovery of personal property. A magistrate is an independent judicial officer, recognized by the North Carolina Constitution as an officer of the district court. 
- District Court Judges are elected for a four-year term. Elections are partisan.
