Trellis, Judge Samantha H. Cabe: Professional Background and Legal Experience

Samantha holds a bachelor's degree in business administration, business law, and accounting from Western Carolina University and a law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. She is a mother and has two sons. 

Samantha works as a partner for Holcomb & Cabe, LLP. She previously worked as an associate attorney for Northern Blue, LLP, and a client account for Crisp Hughes Evans LLP. 

Samantha Cabe currently serves as a district court judge in Judicial District 15A. She was elected to this position in 2016 and is serving her second term.

Samantha Cabe

- District Court judges hear civil, criminal, and juvenile cases. Civil cases dealing with divorce, child custody, and child support are heard in District Court. 
- Under the District Court, the magistrate can try small claims cases ($10,000 or less), landlord eviction cases, and suits for recovery of personal property. A magistrate is an independent judicial officer, recognized by the North Carolina Constitution as an officer of the district court. 
- District Court Judges are elected for a four-year term. Elections are partisan.
