Erin Brock

Shonna was born and raised in Winston-Salem. She graduated from East Forsyth High School, then earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in politics from Wake Forest University. She earned her registered nursing certification from Winston-Salem University, and her law degree from North Carolina Central University. She lives with her husband, with whom she has 1 daughter. 

Shonna was previously the Chief Clinical Compliance and Regulatory Consultant at GE Healthcare Americas. She then became a magistrate judge for the State of North Carolina, and is currently an attorney at her own law firm.

Shonna's campaign for district court judge is her first entry into politics.

- District Court judges hear civil, criminal, and juvenile cases. Civil cases dealing with divorce, child custody, and child support are heard in District Court. 
- Under the District Court, the magistrate can try small claims cases ($10,000 or less), landlord eviction cases, and suits for recovery of personal property. A magistrate is an independent judicial officer, recognized by the North Carolina Constitution as an officer of the district court. 
- District Court Judges are elected for a four-year term. Elections are partisan.
