Craig was born and raised in Montgomery County.  He attended North Carolina State University. He lives in Troy. He is married to his wife, Lisa, with whom he has one child. He is a former president of West Montgomery High School.

Craig is currently the Head of New Truck Sales at Crook Motors in Albemarle. He previously worked as the Operations Manager at Standard Packaging in Mt. Gilead.
