Julia completed college at Appalachian State University and nursing school at Central Piedmont Community College. Julia has been married to her husband, Russ, and they have 2 children. 

Julia is a former nurse who has worked in various capacities including on wards, in the Intensive Care Unit, the emergency department, and the trauma unit. After leaving nursing, she assisted her husband in running his medical practice from home.
