Dan is from Robeson County, NC. He earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from North Carolina Central University, followed by his law degree from Duke University School of Law. 

Dan is a founding managing partner and attorney at Blue Stephens & Fellers LLP.

Dan Blue currently serves as a state senator in District 14. He was elected in 2009 and is serving his seventh term. He previously served as a state representative, serving 13 terms. He was the Speaker of the House and chaired both the Judiciary and Appropriations committees.
