Kim earned bachelor's degree in English from the State University of New York at Oneonta, master's degrees in public health and conflict resolution from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, and a doctorate degree in leadership studies from A&T State University. She coordinates community wound trauma training, gun safety classes, and situational awareness programs for youth. Kim is married and has children.
