Pauline Hankins attended South Brunswick High School. She graduated from North Caroline State University with a degree in electrical engineering. She got her law degree from North Caroline Central University School of Law.

- District Court judges hear civil, criminal, and juvenile cases. Civil cases dealing with divorce, child custody, and child support are heard in District Court.
