Greg Murphy was the valedictorian of Raleigh Broughton High School and graduated with honors in Pre-Med and Religion from Davidson College, later earning honors at UNC-CH School of Medicine. He and his wife, Wendy, have been married for over 25 years and have three children, with whom they live in Greenville for more than 20 years. Greg has served extensively in his church and as a medical missionary, he has traveled to Haiti, India, and Africa.

Greg Murphy is a urologist who owns and operates his own private practice with a payroll of over 50 employees. He has served as a faculty member at the ECU School of Medicine and as the former Chief of Staff of Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Additionally, he has worked as a medical missionary in countries such as Haiti, India, and Africa.
