Micah is originally from the Upper West Side of New York City. He volunteers as chair of the board of the Riverside Park Conservancy and has served on the boards of Everytown and the Community Service Society. He lives with his wife and 3 children. The family are members of Congregation Rodeph Sholom.

Micah is currently the director of policy for the State of New York under Governor Kathy Hochul. He has previously served as Chief of Staff in the Office of the New York State Attorney General, Director of State Legislative Affairs for the City of New York, and worked at the New York City Department of Education.

Micah C. Lasher previously ran for New York State Senate in 2016, but did not win.
