Julia holds a bachelor's degree from Smith College and a master's of public administration degree in international relations and national security studies from Princeton University. She serves as advocacy chairperson of the YMCA Social Impact Center. 

Julia works as a consulting manager at Kinetic West. She previously worked as a senior policy advisor for the City of Seattle. 

Julia Grant Reed currently serves as a state representative in State Legislative District 36. She was elected to this position in 2022 and is serving her first term. She is a former chairperson of Legislative District 36 Democrats.
