Vandana was born in Canada and immigrated to the U.S. in 1988. She earned her bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of British Columbia and her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington. She currently lives in Bellevue with her husband and son.  

Vandana has worked as a biotech and healthcare professional, including positions at Amgen and Genentech. She is a licensed pharmacist in the state of Washington.

Vandana Slatter is a state representative in State Legislative District 48. She was first elected in 2016 and is serving her 4th term. She is the current chair of the House Post Secondary Education and Workforce Committee. She is a former member of the Bellevue City Council.
