Lee earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. He lives with his wife, Denise, and they have three children. He is a worship leader at NorthPointe Church.

Lee is an information technology manager at Denise Castro CPA and Associates, which he co-founded with his wife. He previously worked as a network architect and information systems manager at Shaw Industries, Dixie Yarns, and The Weather Channel.
