COLIN AKE

Colin Ake was elected to Woodstock City Council in 2017. Since joining City Council, Colin has helped enable citizens re-envision the Ridgewalk Parkway corridor, focused on enacting Woodstock's long-term plans, led the two-year-long Service Delivery Strategy (SDS) negotiations with Cherokee County and other Cherokee cities, and has worked to ensure data is driving decisions across topics on Council. Colin was a leader in envisioning the Woodstock Parks Bond that passed in 2023 with 86% of the vote, and is a strong supporter of prioritizing pedestrians throughout Woodstock. He currently serves the Georgia Municipal Association as a board member as President of District 3 North Region, as well as on GMA's legislative policy council. Prior to announcing his run for City Council, Colin served as the Mayor's appointee on the Woodstock Planning and Zoning Commission where he learned about . While on the Planning Commission, he was elected Vice-Chair by his peers. Colin served the Woodstock community as the Vice Chair and Chair of the Greenprints Alliance Board of Directors, where he focused on supporting trail development. Colin has provided significant input to the Cherokee Office of Economic Development and Woodstock Office of Economic Development on Fresh Start Cherokee and The Circuit as they work to incorporate startups into their economic development plans. Colin grew up in Woodstock and moved back to the city with his wife Nikki to start their family. They live just north of Downtown Woodstock with their three children (Owen, Lealynn, and Hudson). Professionally, Colin has built a career in deep technology startup development and innovation / entrepreneurship community development, both in the private industry and in university settings. Colin holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and a MBA from Georgia Tech.
