Trey King is from Stephens County, Georgia. He attended Young Harris College and the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Dawn, have three sons. They attend Ebenezer Baptist Church in the Harbins community.

Trey is a chemistry teacher at Collins Hill High School, where he has worked for 26 years. Before becoming a teacher, he spent 15 years as a retail pharmacist.
