Michael Caldwell is from Woodstock, Georgia. He has a bachelor's degree in finance from Kennesaw State University. He and his wife, Katie, have four children and are members of the Sojourn Woodstock congregation.

Michael is the managing partner at Black Airplane, a full-stack digital product agency in downtown Woodstock. He previously was a founding team member at Python Safety, an industrial safety company that was acquired by 3M in 2015.

Michael is currently the 31st Mayor of the City of Woodstock. He was elected in 2020 and is serving his first term. Before becoming mayor, he served four terms in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2012 to 2020.
