B. W. is a retired criminal investigator. He worked at the Dallas County District Attorney's Office for 14 years. Before that, he spent 31 years in law enforcement.

B.W. Smith is currently a city council member for Mesquite City Council, District 5. He was first elected in 2019 and is currently serving his third term. 

Supports townhall, district, and neighborhood meetings to enhance citizen participation and feedback.
