Meet Angie

I have been a Doraville resident since 2013. You may have seen me fostering animals for Lifeline Animal Project, helping neighbors care for community cats, singing and playing music at the Doraville 150th celebration and at the Merely Players Theater, cleaning up creek beds with Peachtree Creek Greenway Riverkeepers, or attending a Doraville Art or Northwoods Area Neighborhood Association meeting.

MY POSITIONS:

I am running for Doraville City Council because I believe strongly in a city government that is open and transparent. Major issues that affect residents’ day to day lives should be brought to the community before being brought to a vote.

I believe that elected officials serve as representatives of their constituency, and that democracy is the key to ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and respected with regard to all official decisions affecting them.

I strongly support citizen participation in government, and I support any initiative that will encourage and empower my constituents to take an active part in the conversation.

Supports open city government and community input before council votes on major issues affecting residents.

HOMEOWNERS' RIGHTS

I believe in progress that makes sense, and in processes for development that respect the rights of every homeowner in Doraville. This means protecting your property, proper and practical zoning, and listening to homeowners before any major issues that affect neighborhoods are brought to a vote.

PRIVACY RIGHTS

I support Law Enforcement and recognize Doraville as a relatively low-crime city. But I believe that every citizen has the right to travel on our streets without being under constant camera surveillance. Nobody likes to be tracked everywhere they go, and there are not enough safeguards to ensure that the technology for which the City has contracted will not be misused in any way.

I SUPPORT:

Seeking Input from the Community Before Council Votes on Major Issues

Open and Transparent City Government

Homeowners’ Rights

Privacy Rights: Revisit the City’s Flock Camera Contract

Progress that Strengthens Our Community While Supporting and Preserving Our Small Businesses

Community Partnership With Code Enforcement

Wants to revisit Doraville's Flock camera contract, citing insufficient safeguards against the misuse of constant camera surveillance.

Hart represented District 2 from 2006 to 2008.
Hart said the economic state of the city is due to poor management. “The citizens are quite upset,” he said. “They are grasping at straws trying to generate some business and they think they can do it by lowering the standards of the city or upping the taxes, which is a recipe for disaster.”
