Sharon studied business administration at East Georgia College and Accountancy at Southeastern Technical College. 

Sharon has worked under tax commissioners in Emanuel County and Laurens County.  She was part of the largest software update in the MVD (Motor Vehicle Department) when the state of Georgia changed from GRATIS to DRIVES. She was also the treasurer of Dellwood Baptist Church for 7 years.
