Kenya is from Louisville, Kentucky, and graduated from Central High School. She holds a bachelor's degree in environmental science from the University of Alabama. She currently resides in Fayette County and has three sons. She is a member of the Fayette Democratic Women Organization, Vice President of the Kentucky Colonels, and Vice Chair for the Fayette County Democratic Committee. Valencia is from Atlanta and attended Southside Comprehensive High School and Fulton High School. She holds two degrees in business administration from Fort Valley State College and Georgia State University. 

Valencia serves as managing partner with Val Promotions, LLC and the Georgia Youth Career Center. She has experience as a substitute teacher and working in real estate.
