Sheila Jefferson is currently a Fitzgerald City Council member representing District East and West At-Large. She was first elected in 2017 in a special election and has been in office for two terms.

Sheila is retired. She used to be a teacher at Ben Hill County Schools. Before that, she was a sales representative at Avon, a youth counselor at Behavioral Health Services of South Georgia, a paraprofessional at VaBeach Public Schools, a knitter operator at Modern Fibers Carpets, and a domestic worker at H.R. Kaminsky & Sons.

Sheila is from Fitzgerald, Georgia. She has an associate's degree in education administration: organizational leadership from Cambridge College, a bachelor's degree in human services council from Old Dominion University, and a master's degree in special education: emotional behavioral disorder from Georgia Southwestern University. She has one grown son.
