Bernita K. Lewis is currently a city council member representing the City of Alma. She was elected in November 2013 and has served two and one half terms.

Bernita is retired, dedicating her time to service as a city councilor. She previously worked at Bacon County schools for 30 years. She worked in the capacity of classroom teacher, alternative education director and in-school suspension coordinator during her career.

Bernita is from Alma. She attended Albany State University. She has a bachelor's in health and physical education. She also attended Capella University where she earned a master's in educational leadership.
